Cast on a multiple of 4 stitches, plus 3.

Row 1 (RS): Knit.

Row 2 (WS): Purl.

Row 3: Knit.

Row 4: Knit.

Row 5: Purl.

Row 6: Knit.

Row 7: *Knit 3, knit into the 3rd stitch below the next stitch slipping the stitches off the left needle; repeat from * to last 3 stitches, knit 3.

Rows 8-12: Repeat rows 2-6.

Row 13: Knit 1, *knit into the 3rd stitch below the next stitch slipping the stitches off the left needle, knit 3; repeat from * to last 2 stitches, knit into the 3rd stitch below the next stitch slipping the stitches off the left needle, knit 1.

Repeat rows 2-13 for desired length.
