New Knitting Patterns for September 2023
We are now well into September, and I am 100% feeling the cozy Fall vibes now. Where I live, the temperature is still well into the 80’s everyday, but that hasn’t stopped me from casting on some sweaters, and making many plans for more as the season goes along.
One of my favorite ways to stay up to date on the current knitwear trends is to sort on Ravelry by the date the patterns were posted. This way, I can see the latest patterns, which is also a really great way to discover new-to-me designers.
Here I have rounded up my favorite new knitting patterns that would be perfect for a beginning of Fall, September cast on.
Bonkers by Anna & Heidi Pickles
This bulky weight pullover looks so fun to knit, and with the thick yarn it would probably be a very quick project. I love the colors the sample is knit in, but this could be very sophisticated in solid, or even a neutral color with neon pops.
Lata by Giselle Ukardi
A chunky neutral colored pullover sweater is one of the most essential pieces for a Fall wardrobe, and this new pattern from Giselle Ukardi is the perfect example of how to design a classic sweater, with minimal but sophisticated details. This sweater is timeless in silhouette, but the stitch details on the front make it unique. This sweater will be loved for years by anyone who makes it.
Stook Sweater by Olga Putano
This pullover is so well designed. It has a simple shape, with a yarn choice that suits the ease and rib stitch throughout. But it really dazzles with the delicate cable details at the hem and center back neck, as well as the saddle shoulder that is thoughtfully shaped to complement the rib structure. This sweater uses Camellia Fiber Co. Som DK, which is a lovely combination of pima cotton, baby alpaca, & merino and looks so light and luxurious. This sweater is sure to be a staple item in your hand hand wardrobe.
Swinton by Julie Hoover
Julie Hoover’s latest pattern is a retro pullover T, with contrast tipping around the hem, cuffs, and collar. The shape is a nod to 1960’s silhouettes, and the tipping adds a fun and unexpected flair. It is photographed in a beautiful, bright, red-orange color, which is popular right now and lends nicely to the simple shape of this garment. This piece would be easy to personalize to your preferred length, and is a great way to play with color work with the tipping details.
Paloma by Cécile Qui Tricote
Paloma is a breezy cardigan that is perfect for the changing weather of early Fall. It has an allover pointelle pattern, and is knit sideways from cuff to cuff. The sample is knit in a wool silk blend, but this would also look and feel great in a cotton blend to work as a more all-season garment.
#03 Cardigan by Lana Grossa
This new cardigan with patch pockets by Lana Grossa would easily make a wardrobe staple for Fall. The deep V-neck and relaxed boxy shape go great with all your favorite cool weather pants, skirts, and dresses. This cardigan could be knit time and time over in different colors as a go-to to throw over any outfit.
