Checkerboard Broken Brioche

Beige hand knit swatch, that uses brioche stitches and garter stitch to create a checkerboard pattern.

This textured checkerboard stitch is knit using an alternating pattern of garter and brioche stitches. The brioche stitches give a 3 dimensional effect to the stitch. The stitch is pictured here in a woolen spun yarn, which keeps the fabric lightweight and gives it excellent bounce. Use a yarn that will give your knitting good stitch definition to show off the pattern.
