Waffle Stitch

Light tan knit fabric with knit and purl stitches that create a waffle stitch pattern.

This waffle stitch creates a lightweight, bouncy fabric, with a beautiful texture reminiscent of thermal garments. Use this stitch in a bulky weight yarn for a cozy oversized sweater, or with fingering yarn for a slouchy pair of socks.

Cast on a multiple of 4 stitches, plus 3.

Row 1 (RS): Knit all stitches.

Row 2 (WS): *Purl 3, slip 1. Repeat from * to the last 3 stitches. Purl 3.

Row 3 (RS): *Purl 3, move the yarn to the back, slip 1, move the yarn to the front. Repeat from * to the last 3 stitches. Purl 3.

Row 4 (WS): *Knit 3, move the yarn to the front, slip 1, move the yarn to the back. Repeat from * to the last 3 stitches. Knit 3.

Repeat rows 1-4 for desired length.
